TREE PAVILION
This pavilion was designed to integrate the outdoor space of the Garden Recanto Tropical, in the city of Xangri-Lá, on the north coast of Rio Grande do Sul, specifically to mark the opening of the Summer Escape event, held in January 2024.
The construction is a modular wooden structure, a kind of pergola that can be erected in up to 20 days. Although surrounded by six columns, the space is expanded by linear elements: the gabion walls and the benches that also serve as support for stone sculptures. To oppose the rusticity of the pine pieces, special attention was given to the fittings between the wooden elements, as well as to the design of the column itself.
The pavilion is complemented by vegetal masses in different sizes and shades of green, as well as a translucent fabric cover that suggests leaves in the wind. Finally, the stone sculptures also symbolize the eternal intention of transforming inert nature into a drama.
The Tree Pavilion evokes the origins of architecture, a primordial hut: both tree and shelter, hence its name.
